Water activities in Marbella
The entire coast sits on the edge of the Mediterranean so there is plenty of water-based fun to be had at the beach. There is an abundance of swimming pools as well. But, when you’re looking for fun beyond the beach and the pool that will keep the kids—and adults—entertained then there is an amazing assortment of water activities in Marbella that offer the thrills of a theme park and the pleasure of being in the outdoors.
Aquamijas Waterpark in Mijas
This popular waterpark with five water slides of varied sizes suitable for all age groups also has a mini golf course, a beach area and a wave pool plus a host of other attractions. If you buy tickets for the park online you can save 15%. Day pass prices range from €13.50 to €24.50 although Family passes and Senior citizen passes are also available. Information is available in English. Children aged 3 and up are able to use the facilities.
Aqualand Waterpark in Torremolinos
This is the biggest waterpark on the Coast and it boasts 15 different slides for children as well as 10 slides for adults. There are other activities available here as well and visitors can easily spend an entire day at this waterpark. As with Aquamijas, if you buy tickets online you can make a saving, although please note that an online ticket is not valid until the day after purchase, so it pays to plan ahead. Day pass prices range from €10 for a toddler to €28 for an adult.
Cable Ski Marbella
This popular venue is located on a beautiful natural lake in Guadalmina Alta near San Pedro de Alcantara. Professional instructors are on hand to teach visitors how to waterski, wakeboard or kneeboard while they are pulled on a cable system along the lake. The cable speed may be adjusted according to age and ability and trips last approximately one minute. There is a restaurant on the premises and a pool available to entertain the little ones who are not old enough to ski. Prices ranges from €10.50 for four laps to €35 for a day pass.
You won’t be in the water for one of these exciting trips but the kids will be thrilled to be on a boat watching these beautiful animals close up. Dolphin-watching trips are available from Benalmadena port –Costasol Cruceros has been operating here for over 30 years — and from Puerto Banus, where Marbella Charter organises trips that will take you to the best spots to see dolphins in their natural habitat and includes a lunch at the ports of either Estepona or Sotogrande. Approximate prices for a two-hour dolphin trip are €16 (adult) €8 (child). For day charter costs contact Marbella Charter.
The great advantage of Funny Beach, which is less than a 10-minute drive from Marbella town, is that its kids’ activities combine land and water. The go-karting track is hugely popular, as are the bumper cars, trampoline and amusement arcade. But, when the kids want to go out on the water for some excitement, the Banana Boat ride is perfect for younger kids. Older kids and adults can try their skill on the Wave X ramp, jet ski or flyboard. Prices range from €8 for a kids’ karting session. Group and family rates are available.
Sailing, kite surfing, kayaking and canyoning is also available on the coast and if you’d like to find out more about these activities we recommend MarbellaFamilyFun.com as a source of information. Marbella is a great place to live when you love having fun in the water.
